Rogers returns for Tigers to face White Sox

Chicago will pin its hopes on 24-year-old righty Gavin Floyd, who is 1-2 with a 6.92 ERA. Floyd received a no-decision in his last start on August 28, as he surrendered three runs and six hits in six innings.

Floyd has faced the Tigers twice in his young career, going 1-0 against them with a 4.22 ERA.

In the opener of this set on Tuesday, Alex Cintron hit his first homer of the season, a two-run shot, to lead Chicago to a 3-1 win. Josh Fields went 2-for-4 with a home run for the White Sox, who have won two in a row.

Jon Garland (9-10) was solid through seven innings, allowing just one run on seven hits while striking out four with no walks.

Jeremy Bonderman (11-8) started for Detroit and pitched 5 1/3 innings, allowing three runs on seven hits for the Tigers, who trail Cleveland by seven games in the American League Central. The Indians downed the Minnesota Twins in extra innings on Tuesday.

Carlos Guillen had two hits and knocked in the lone run for slumping Detroit, which has lost five of their last seven.

Chicago has beaten the Tigers five straight times and has won nine of 13 from them this season, including six of the seven matchups in Motown.
