09/05/2007 - (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Texas tries to stay on the winning track this evening when they play the rubber match of their three-game series against the Kansas City Royals at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington.
After having their five-game home winning streak stopped in Monday's opener, Texas bounced back on Tuesday, as Ian Kinsler finished 3-for-4 with a pair of runs scored and two RBI in a 9-8 Rangers' win. Jason Botts collected three hits, drove in two and scored once for Texas, which has won three of four overall.
Brad Wilkerson homered and drove in a pair of runs, while Jarrod Saltalamacchia homered and Marlon Byrd also knocked in a run.
John Rheinecker (2-1) earned the win by pitching a scoreless seventh inning. Starter Kevin Millwood yielded eight hits and six runs with seven strikeouts and three walks over five full innings in the no-decision.
Royals reliever Leo Nunez (2-3) took the loss. He was charged with three hits and two runs in one-third of an inning in relief of Billy Buckner, who in his major-league debut, was tagged for six runs and seven hits in four innings.
Jason Smith hit a three-run homer and drove in four for the Royals, who have dropped three of five.
Mike Sweeney had three hits, scored twice and drove in a run, Mark Teahen collected two hits and an RBI, and both Mark Grudzielanek and Esteban German knocked in a run.
Getting the call for the Rangers tonight will be right-hander Vicente Padilla, who is 4-9 with a 6.36 ERA. Padilla served up six runs and 10 hits in 6 2/3 innings in a loss to the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim on Friday.
Padilla is 0-1 in his two starts against the Royals, allowing eight runs (seven earned) in 8 2/3 innings of those outings.
Kansas City will counter with Kyle Davies, is coming off a win in his last start. Davies defeated the Minnesota Twins on Friday, as he surrendered three runs (two earned) and four hits in five frames to improve to 2-3 with the Royals, while lowering his ERA to a 6.75 since being acquired from the Atlanta Braves for closer Octavio Dotel.
Overall on the season, Davies is 6-11 with a 5.99 ERA in 23 starts.
Davies has lost both of his starts to the Rangers and has given up 10 runs in 7 1/3 innings of those contests.
Kansas City has won five of eight from the Rangers this season, but has lost four of its last six in Arlington.
