Orioles, Devil Rays set for rubber match

B.J. Upton knocked in a pair of runs for the Devil Rays, who lost for only the third time in their last 12 games.

Tampa Bay ace Scott Kazmir, looking for his third-straight win, pitched seven innings, yielding nine hits and four runs with five strikeouts and a walk. Dan Wheeler (0-3), though, was tagged with the loss, serving up four runs and four hits in just a third of an inning.

Radhames Liz will be on the hill for the Orioles tonight, as he tries once again for his first major league win. After losing his big league debut on August 25, Liz lasted just three innings on Friday against Boston, giving up a pair of runs and four hits in three innings, but did not factor in the decision of his team's 9-8 win. This will be his first appearance against the D-Rays.

Tampa will counter with righty Andy Sonnanstine, who is coming off the best start of his young career in his last trip to the hill. Sonnanstine won his second straight start on Friday against the New York Yankees, as he allowed an unearned run and two hits in eight innings to run his record to 4-9 on the season, while lowering his ERA to 5.88.

Sonnanstine has lost both of his starts to the Orioles, pitching to an 11.17 ERA in the process.

Baltimore is 11-6 against the Devil Rays this season and has taken five of the eight meetings between the teams at Tropicana Field. The Orioles have also won 17 of their last 24 overall encounters with Tampa Bay as well.
