08/05/2010 - Terre Haute, IN (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - Indiana State's struggling football program named alumnus Steve Englehart as its new offensive coordinator on Wednesday, head coach Trent Miles said.
Englehart replaced Troy Walters, who recently left to become the wide receivers coach at Texas A&M.
Englehart, a quarterback for Indiana State from 1997-99, compiled a 26-14 record over the last four seasons as head coach at NCAA Division III Rose- Hulman. He also will coach the Sycamores' quarterbacks and running backs.
"Anytime that you can add a coach with the experience that Steve Englehart possesses, it is a positive for your program," Miles said. "We are happy to bring Steve back to his alma mater as the offensive coordinator. Steve is a good friend and will be an excellent mentor and role model for our team. He had tremendous success as a player at both Indiana State and Terre Haute North, and was a vital reason why Rose-Hulman has enjoyed a resurgence in their football program in his time there as both head coach and as an assistant."
Indiana State, from the Missouri Valley Football Conference, has gone a combined 2-54 over the last five seasons.
