Dodgers' Martin lands on DL

Martin hyperextended his leg in the second inning of Tuesday's 2-1 win over the Padres. He didn't leave the game until the top of the eighth, when Brad Ausmus entered.

An MRI on Wednesday revealed the bad news. In 97 games this season, Martin was batting .248 with five homers and 26 RBI.

Outfielder Reed Johnson was activated from the 15-day DL to take the roster spot.

Johnson, who was suffering from lower back spasms, is hitting .291 with seven RBI in 66 games for the Dodgers this season.
