The 32-year-old was batting .197 with two home runs and eight runs batted in over 71 at-bats this season in a reserve role.

He was acquired by Milwaukee in May 2009 from San Diego and re-signed with the Brewers in January.

Gerut is a career .262 hitter with 59 long balls and 226 RBI over parts of six big league seasons (2003-05, 2008-10) in 574 games with the Indians, Cubs, Pirates, Padres and Brewers.

The AFC South and the NFC East are the favorite divisions to have the next Super Bowl champ among them in the NFL betting odds.
